Scott William Doty Sr. of Barnegat died suddenly August 19th 2012 with his family by his side. Born in Staten Island, NY August 12 1971, to William and Jayne Doty, Scott was a graduate of Southern Regional High School. Scott was hired by the Barnegat Township School District as an apprentice mechanic in 1987. Through his hard work and dedication he was later promoted to lead diesel mechanic where he prided himself with the safety of the children in this town. He remained with Barnegat School District for over 24 years until his death. Scott was an amazing soccer coach for the Barnegat Soccer Club. His presence will be missed at the fields but his spirit will live on through all the children he has coached. Just this year Scott had the opportunity to make his lifelong dream of becoming a race car driver true. He graduated his rookie season at New Egypt Speedway on June 30 2012 surrounded by his “Motley Crew” and his loving family and friends. After graduation, he moved on to race as a driver in the Crate 1 series. In the short time he was a part of the Speedway, he managed to build strong bonds with many of the drivers, crews, and officials. At 41, he was making his dream a reality and his family was so proud of him.
Scott was the kind of man where if you met him once you loved him instantly. His smile and compassion was infectious. His undying need to do for others well before himself was apparent by all that knew him. He leaves behind endless and endless friends that will forever feel the hole he has left within them. Scott would not want you to mourn him, he was too modest for that, he would want you to raise a glass and toast him.
Scott leaves behind the love of his life, the woman who made him the man he is today, his beloved wife Kimberly and their four children Ryan Fogarty, Nicholas Fogarty, and his babies Scott William Doty Jr. and Kassandra Jayne Doty. Scott never truly lived until he had his children. Scott was preceded by his beloved mother Jayne Ethel Doty. He is survived by his father William Doty and step mother Peggy; his two sisters Colleen Doty Shive and his brother in law Chris Shive, Jill Doty Spain and brother in law Steven Spain all of Barnegat. He also leaves behind his adoring nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, an extended in-law family and countless friends.
