MaryEllen Vesey

Born in Newark, NJ, MaryEllen married her loving husband, Joseph, in May 1959, and together they raised and provided a loving home for their three children, Joseph, Jr., Michael, and Maureen. She resided in Clark, NJ for many years before moving to Little Egg Harbor.

Before marrying, MaryEllen worked as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company. After raising her children she returned to work as a secretary and receptionist with Dames & Moore in Cranford, retiring in 2005. The daughter of Irish immigrants, MaryEllen fondly remembers her parents, James and Josephine O’Reilly, and her beloved brother, Thomas C. O’Reilly, who passed away in 2019.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph P. Vesey, her children, Joseph P. Vesey, Jr., Michael J. Vesey, and Maureen E. Kelly and her husband David, her grandchildren, Sarah, Joseph, Ryan, Caroline, Brendan, and Lauren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ on Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 7pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Drive, Manahawkin, NJ on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 10am, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave., East Hanover, NJ, at 1pm.

In Lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
