It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Carricarte, 74, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all the lives she touched. Early on the morning of Friday, August 4th, 2023, Mary Ann faded away after a long courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer, surrounded by family at her bedside for her last few days with us.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Kim Teschlog, and son-in-law Robert Teschlog, and son Erik Carricarte. She also leaves behind four grandchildren - Samantha, Taylor, John, Ashe; and two brothers - Nick Williams, and sister-in-law, Janet Williams, and Jack Williams, and sister-in-law, Lynn Williams, as well as the numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.
Mary Ann was born on August 20th, 1948, in Jersey City, where she spent her childhood life and most of her 20s. She started a beautiful family, and moved down to Manahawkin with her two children in 1979.
Mary Ann valued family more than anything, and was always making sure everyone else was taken care of, before herself. That beautiful smile was contagious, and she always remained so positive and happy, and could make anyone laugh.
Mary Ann spent 30+ years working as the Court Administrator at Stafford Township, where she retired in May of 2012. As a dedicated employee, it did not matter what time one needed Mary Ann, whether it was 2 pm, or 2 am, she was always there to assist her coworkers.
She loved spending her summer days at the beach or at her daughter’s house in the pool with her grandchildren. Mary Ann’s two children, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and quality time with them was her favorite passion. Mary Ann also valued outings with her friends, and going to township events with her colleagues.
Mary Ann’s wishes were to be cremated, and rather than having a service, she wanted a lighthearted gathering as a Celebration of Life to honor her. The memorial will be held at the club house of Brighton Community in Barnegat on Saturday, September 16th. Address is 35 Brighton Rd, Barnegat, NJ. From the hours of 11 am until 2 pm, the venue will be open for anyone who wishes to pay their respects and honor Mary Ann. After 2 pm, the venue will be a closed event for family.
If you knew Mary Ann, you know she was the most genuine and selfless person. In lieu of flowers, if everyone can find it in their hearts to spread an act of kindness and be there for someone in a time of need, like she always was, it would be a great honor to her life.
The family would love if anyone wishes to send letters of memories with Mary Ann, or photos they may have together, to send them to the Teschlog residence of 1035 Whispering Oak Ln, Manahawkin. NJ, as they will be creating a memory box to honor her.
