John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Peg, his daughters, Megan Killeen Swiezkowski and her husband Larry and Jennifer Hub, his cherished grandchildren; Tess, Abiagail, Hailey, Austin and John.
Prior to his retirement, John worked for many years as a telephone technician for Bell Telephone and AT&T.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country.
John loved to draw, he made model airplanes and ships as well as tinkering with woodworking. He enjoyed doing the N.Y Times crossword puzzles in ink, he was a die-hard N.Y. Yankees and Giants fan. Above all else, John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He attended all events that his children and grandchildren were involved in.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
