After graduating high school, Jim entered the United States Air Force, serving at the McGuire Air Force Base in Burlington, NJ.
Jim was a resident of Mercerville, NJ, where he and his wife, Katherine, raised their family. They moved to Cedar Run in 1998.
Jim was predeceased by his grandson, Ethan, and his sister, Isabelle.
He is survived by Katherine, his beloved wife of 61 years; his sons, James C., Thomas (Maria), and Timothy (Danielle); his cherished grandchildren, James F., Amelia, T.J., Owen, and Aidan; his precious great-grandson, James S.; his brothers, Donald and Edward; and his sister, Patricia.
Jim retired from Prudential after 36 years of service, where he met the love of life, Katherine.
Jim enjoyed traveling and playing golf, but his first love was spending time with his family. He was a capable and willing source of help for anyone who knew him, often volunteering his time to assist with everything from home improvement projects to finances. Jim loved Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers and Pirates.
Jim was a long-time parishioner at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Manahawkin, where he was an usher for many years.
Jim was a Lymphoma survivor. The perseverance he showed in beating cancer led to his story being shared in newspapers and billboards that read, “Share Jim’s Strength.”
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass of Christian of Burial will follow immediately, at 11:00 a.m.
