James Hampton Harkness

Born on November 28, 1931 in Drexel Hill, PA (in his parents home), James was educated @ Upper Darby High School and graduated in 1950. James was also a graduate of Pennsylvania Military College in 1959.

James was active in basketball and baseball. He served in the Army from 1953-1955.

James volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and Meals on Wheels.

James was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Sutton Harkness for 59 years and the devoted father of 6 children; James H. Harkness Jr., and Susan (Rozelle) Harkness of Manahawkin, Dean and Deborah (Baldachino) Harkness, Gary Harkness and Elizabeth Harkness of Beach Haven, NJ, Craig and Andrea (Martucci) Harkness of West Chester PA and Stacey McCarthy and husband Joe of Drexel Hill, PA. He was the best grandfather to 16 grandchildren, Jane, Jennifer, Jessica, Dylan, Tyler, Sara, Shane, Amanda, Craig Jr,. Anna, Veronica and Brooke Harkness and Ryan, Erin, Grace and Connor McCarthy. He thoroughly enjoyed his family and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him. James was a true Philly Fan he loved all the Philly teams.

A gathering will be on Tuesday from 11:30am-12:30pm - for the Immediate Family
