On November 30, 2014, Jack passed away peacefully at home. He was a beloved husband; father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and coach.
Jack was born in Canton, NY, and spent his early life growing up in Ellisburg, NY. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the U.S Army and served at Fort McClellan, Al., he also served in Key West, Fl as an MP. It was in Key West that he met his future wife, Rosemary. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Jack became a rural letter carrier for the USPS.
Jack was a caring, loving and extremely proud man, especially of his family for whom he lived his life.
Jack was a coach in both soccer and basketball; not only for his two children, Justin and Melissa, but for his entire community.
Jack recently became a proud grandfather to his new granddaughter, Zoe. Though she was only 9 weeks old at the time of his passing, he enjoyed every minute of his new role as a grandfather.
Jack is survived by the love of his life for 36 years, Rosemary (nee Balcaitis), his son, Justin and his wife Zaira; his daughter Melissa and her boyfriend Justin; granddaughter, Zoe and his two step-granddaughters; Ale and Gigi. Jack is also survived by his mother, Verna, of NY; his brothers, Jim, Jan and John; his sisters, Norma-Jean and Ellie. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2014 from 10:00-12:00 at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made in Jack’s name to Deborah Heart and Lung Center or the Lymphocytic Leukemia Foundation.
