Elizabeth A. “Betty” Hundley, 89, formerly of Manahawkin and Spring Lake Heights, went home to her heavenly Father on June 19, 2017 while residing at The Reformed Church Home in Old Bridge. Betty was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey and attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and High School.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Ira W. “Bill” Hundley, her parents, James and Bridget (Mitchell) Boyle, her infant son in 1949, her brothers John, James, and William Boyle, sisters Mary Boyle and Margaret Meade. She is survived by her six children, son Jim and his wife Ginny of Neptune, son Bil and his wife Maggie of Manahawkin, daughter Betty Anne McKenna and her husband Mike of Freehold Township, son Dan of Freehold Township, daughter Jane Hundley and her companion Chris Matthews of Wall Township, and daughter Susan Fagan and her husband Tom of Manahawkin. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Jamie, Todd and his wife Lauren, and Kali Hundley and her fiancé David; Liam Hundley; Michael and his wife Dr. Allison Wallin, Moira, Patrick, Kara, and Mae McKenna; Danny and Shawn Hundley; Colin and his fiancé Ashley, Brianna, and Clare Fagan; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Hundley. Betty was blessed to have the love and friendship of several very special people in her life, Bertha (Bundonis) Dempsey, Laurie (Bundonis) D’Biagio, and Alice (Hurley) Brady.
Sadly missed, but never forgotten, Betty will be remembered by all who knew her for her absolute love and devotion to her husband and family, Catholic faith, the Yankees, bingo, and the Irish Sports Page, where she is making her first and only appearance as of this writing.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 23rd from 4 until 8 PM at the Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 24th at 11:30 AM at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 100 Bishop Drive in Manahawkin. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin, NJ.
