On Saturday, January 25, 2020, Daniel Stolz, loving husband, father, son, and brother, unexpectedly departed this world while surrounded by his family. He was 49 years old.
Dan was born on July 22, 1970 in Hoboken, NJ and was raised in Jackson, NJ where he attended Jackson Memorial High School. Upon graduating high school, Dan studied computer engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, becoming a brother of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, and paving the way for what would become a successful and fulfilling career. For over 25 years, Dan proudly worked for Future Skies, Inc., achieving the title of Senior Software Engineer and becoming one of the company's longest tenured employees. Though Dan was a hard-working and dedicated employee, he was first and foremost a devoted family man who adored his wife Laurie Stolz (nee Brunda) and his son Noah Stolz with whom he resided in Manahawkin, NJ.
Of keen intellect, Dan was everyone's smartest friend. He was intensely curious and analytical about everything he encountered, offering a wise and welcomed perspective on all subjects. He was a technology enthusiast who enjoyed owning the latest and greatest in electronics and who happily served as the family's de facto tech troubleshooter. Having an array of interests and talents, Dan was a true renaissance man. When he wasn't answering every question correctly on Jeopardy, he could be found rooting for his favorite NHL team, the New York Rangers, caring for the family canines, challenging his brother Christopher to a round of golf, attending mass as a parishioner of St. Mary of the Pines, shooting clay pigeons at the range, or performing all manner of home improvements. Dan was especially passionate about his MMA training, attending multiple classes weekly at the Stafford Mixed Martial Arts Academy where he was always working towards earning his next belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai.
Above all, Dan will always be remembered for his remarkably kind, caring, and generous heart; a gentle and reliable man of high integrity who selflessly offered his time, talents, and resources to those around him, without hesitation. He truly was a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Dan will be deeply and forever missed.
Dan is survived by his wife Laurie Stolz (nee Brunda), his son Noah Stolz, and 'his' dog Hazel of Manahawkin, NJ; his mother Rose Stolz of Asbury Park, NJ; his father Richard Stolz and his wife Patty Hull of San Diego, CA; his brother Christopher Stolz and wife Pamela of Bradenton, FL; his sister-in-law Leslie Garibaldi and husband James of Toms River, NJ; his brother-in-law Frank Brunda and wife Susan of Fairfield,NJ; his sister-in-law Debra Spring of Manahawkin, NJ; his brother-in-law Kenneth Brunda and wife Diane of Pequannock, NJ. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly.
The family will receive friends at the Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ on Tuesday January 28 between 7-9pm. A mass will be held on Wednesday January 29, 11am at St. Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ. Condolences may be sent to our website at www.shinnfuneralhome.com
