Charlene A Wright

WRIGHT, Charlene. "Char" age 68 of Manahawkin, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Char was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and "Mom Mom." She embodied the virtues of selflessness and humility, finding joy in listening to and helping those around her in need. She was a graduate of Archbishop Wood HS (1973) Warminster, PA and received an Associates degree in business from Bucks County Community College (1975). Char started at Colonial Mortgage in 1976 and worked at GMAC, GMAC Commercial Mortgage, Ally, and most recently Ditech Financial until she retired in 2022.

Char was a proud mother and grandmother. She took great joy as she supported her sons' involvement in performing arts, scouting, and athletics, seeking out opportunities to volunteer whenever possible. More recently she loved trips with her husband to Atlantic City and attending various events and performances for her grandchildren, providing them encouragement wherever and whenever she could. She also loved spending time with her close knit group of “Jersey Girls” who would play Bunco on Friday nights and travel the East Coast on their annual bike trip.

Charlene is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents Paul and Georgette (Cyr) Hand; her brother Paul Hand; sister Cheryl Gordon; nieces Michelle Wright & Laura Eberts (Matejik); and nephews Johnny Erickson & Ken Fisher. She is survived by her sons Andrew (Alyssa) & Peter (Carol); grandchildren Addison & Carter; brother Dave; sisters Karen Matejik and Debbie Fisher; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial mass for Charlene will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:30AM (10:30AM visitation) at St. Francis of Assisi, 4700 Long Beach Blvd, Brant Beach, NJ.
