Bonnie Jean was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Northeast Philadelphia and Kutztown University, where she earned her BS degree in Art Education. She and her family were summer residents of Brant Beach, NJ. Bonnie was the first female lifeguard for Long Beach Township.
Upon her graduation from college, she moved to New Jersey, as a full-time resident, and taught Art at Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, NJ.
Bonnie was a volunteer for the Beach Haven First Aid Squad. After raising her family, she went back to school for nursing, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse. She went on to work for over 30 years at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ.
Bonnie was very active in her community, she was a member of Haven Beach Yacht Club, Terrace United Methodist Church, and Island Bible Church, in Beach Haven. Bonnie had a strong faith and a servant heart. Bonnie’s most recent volunteer involvement, and the one that filled her with much gratitude and joy, was with Compassion Café, a non-profit that provides meaningful employment and job training for adolescents and adults with disabilities.
Bonnie was a lover of people and animals; she devoted countless hours and time to the children of her community and animal charities. Her greatest joy came from being with her grandsons. She spent her free time following their baseball games either in person or online. She was their greatest fan and loved spending time with them, meeting their friends and teammates, and travelling to different places together.
Bonnie Jean is survived by her children, Gary Gore, Jr. (Jennifer Gore) and Vicki Gore-Turner, her cherished grandsons, Andrew and Luke Turner, and her sister Nancy Swift-Bandini.
