Richard "Rick" Wheeler

Richard “Rick” Wheeler born June 15, 1955, passed away April 19, 2015. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He will be missed by many. Rick retired from the WV State DOH after 36 years of service. He was a member of Kanawha Valley Railroad Association and WV State Employees Bass Club. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Charlotte Wheeler; son, Danny and his wife, Tenyah Wheeler; daughter, Misty and her husband, P. J. Johnson; grandchildren, Rick Tucker, Breanna Johnson, Nathan and Jacob Wheeler, and Yasmeen Alavarado; mother, Margaret “Peggy” and her husband, Sparky Benton; mother-in-law, Betty Bailey; brothers, Randy, Paul, Ivan “Mutt” and Millard Wheeler; sisters, Claudia Lewis, Kathy “Chatty” Means and Kimmy Lykins; and his beloved dog, Gizmo. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Charles Sweeney officiating. The burial will follow the service in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Family and friends will gather for the visitation Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
