He was born on March 4, 1938 at Dry Branch to the late Jack and Lessie Petry Mullins.
Melvin was retired from CAMC as a Surgery Attendant with 30 years of service. He was an avid baseball fan, loved the New York Yankees and to sit on his front porch.
Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Virgie Garrison Mullins; daughters, Camilla Ann Carter of Campbells Creek and Rhonda (Chris) Phares of Hurricane; grandchildren, Katie Carter and Lindsey Phares; sister, Claytus Miller of Dry Branch; brother, Frank (Sarah) Mullins of Milton; and many nieces and nephews; and Papaw’s girl, Taryn Rader.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor David Crowder and the Rev. John Stevenson officiating. The burial will follow the service at Marmet Memorial Gardens, Marmet.
The visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, September 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
