She was born in Gary, Indiana, and attended Sherman High School.
Melissa had many roles in life. She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. But her greatest role of all, was being a “Grammy”. Melissa loved her family so much. She was loved by many people and anytime she was around, you were guaranteed to have a good time. She had a contagious laugh and smile. She was beautiful inside and out. She was never happier than when she was with her family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Lyle Nelson; Step - father, James “Buck” Lipford; maternal grandparents, Don Buckalew and MaryAnn Buckalew; paternal grandparents, Orville Nelson and Verna Nelson; and her nephew, Colby Evan Nelson.
Melissa is survived by her children, Jessica (Cameron) Mullins, Ian Landers, Evan Landers (Fiancé Brooke Clark); mother, Rebekah Lipford; brother, Shannon Nelson; two granddaughters, Olivia “Livvy” and Lakyn “La La”, who she loved dearly; companion, Jeff “Wheat” Landers, who never left her side; and nephew, Brady Nelson; and a host of many friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Belle Church of the Nazarene, Belle, with Pastor David Clark officiating.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
