Did you know my mother was a talented and skilled stained-glass artist. Friends celebrating special days were gifted with her beautiful stained-glass pieces.
Did you know my mother was featured in the newspaper for her unique paintings of the different holidays on the picture window? Neighbors and passersby would always stop at our apartment in the Upper end of Belle to marvel at her artwork and creativity.
Did my mother loved to throw a party? She loved for her friends and family to get together. Through great food, fellowship, and laughter with her southern charm no one left hungry or without a smile.
Did you know my mother was the driving force behind the plans for the Mt. Holly Lawn walking trail system at the Marmet Locks? For over 20 years she has worked diligently to have this in place for the community to enjoy.
She was a child of God. She was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt and a loving friend.
Diane Moss’s earthly journey ended on Sunday, March 2. Her 80 years touched the lives and hearts of so many. Her smile showed a heart full of love and joy for everyone she met along her journey.
Graduating from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Diane was a transplanted Texan. She learned our West Virginia ways when she met and married Jeffrey Moss. Together Diane and Jeffrey reared two sons, Fielding and Jonathan. When her grandson, Nathan, entered her life, she discovered her heart could grow even larger.
Diane retired from Walker Machinery in 2010. She turned her retirement hours into being even more active in her church, Mt Juliet Global Methodist Church of Belle. Diane kept the congregation together as one big family with her newsletters, church bulletins, powerpoint and her active role in Sunday sermons and other church activities. She loved being in the choir.
Travel was her middle name. Driving cross country, riding the train, flying and cruising, Diane was always ready to explore new places. Her friends and family enjoyed those Diane-planned trips, too. And when she was not designing stained glass pieces, working at the church or traveling, Diane could be found digging in the dirt. A gardener, she shared her flowers and vegetables with anyone admiring them.
Diane was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Jeffrey Moss; parents, Robert Moody Clampitt and Margaret Clampitt; uncle, Frank Clampitt; brother, Robbie and Mary Ann Clampitt; and her son, Jonathan.
She is survived by her son, Fielding of Malden, West Virginia; her grandson, Nathan and his wife, Sarah, of Columbus, Ohio; and brothers, Wayne and Theresa Clampitt, Charlie and Kim Clampitt, all of Texas; and nieces and nephews, Carrie and Scott Head, Shawn and Leigh Clampitt, Cynthia (Smith)and Robert Waugh, Matthew and Louis Smith, Andrew Smith, Pam Stafford, Joey and Kelly Young, Stephen and Amy Young, Michael and Kelly Young; and many grand nieces and nephews.
My mother was an organ donor, and as she requested, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered at places most dear to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to in the Mt Juliet Global Methodist Church or the Mators Kids Foundation
