Donald “Don” Burke, 82, of Campbells Creek, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Don was born June 1, 1935 at Coal Fork to the late Richard and Bessie Burke. He was the owner and operator of Don’s Painting & Remodeling for over 40 years and was a former coal miner with Carbon Fuel with 12 years of service. Don was a U. S. Navy veteran and he was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan. He was a member of Coal Fork United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha Light Burke; daughters, Tonyia (Michael) Richards and Kim (Keith) Walton, both of Campbells Creek; grandchildren, Evan (Amanda) Fridley, Chad Fridley and Sydnee Walton; step-granddaughter, Amber (Charlie) Short; great-grandchildren, Trenton and Avah Short; brother, David Burke of Campbells Creek; sisters, Phyllis Wiggins of Cocoa, Florida, Marvetta (Stan) Smith of Rockledge, Florida and Carol (Henry) Gallups of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews; and his little best friend, Easton Carter. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Mike Long and Pastor Mark Flynn officiating. The burial will follow the service at Witcher Cemetery, Belle. Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
