Carl Lee Reese, 65, of Rand, passed away June 22, 2015, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston of complications from pancreatic cancer. Carl was born January 24, 1950 in Chelyan to Donald and Mary Reese. Preceding Carl in death was his father, Donald “Don” Reese of Hernshaw and brother, Shirley “Butch” Elswick of Fayetteville. Surviving are his mother, Mary Reese of Hernshaw, spouse, Kaye Tyler of Charleston, children, Chad Tyler (Debbie) of Barboursville, Tara Tyler of Charleston, sisters, Margie (Eddie) Hancock of Pratt, Lois Beckwith of Hansford, grandchildren, Wesley, Kyrah and Elijah of Barboursville. He is also survived by three aunts whom he adored; Phyllis Cannon of Argillite, KY, Delora Ratliff of Akron, OH and Norma Wood of Newport News, VA. Carl was loved dearly by his nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Carl was employed by Kanawha County Schools as a bus driver out of the Sissonville Terminal. He loved the students he was entrusted to transport to and from school. He would laugh telling funny stories about the things they would say and do. Before becoming a bus driver Carl was a Recreation Specialist for the WV Rehabilitation Center up and until the time it closed. Carl was a drummer and played in numerous bands when he was in his teens and twenties. He was an avid WVU and NASCAR fan. He loved attending many games and races throughout his lifetime. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Ralph Kernen officiating. The entombment will follow the service in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Family and friends will gather for the visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
