Betty A. Hutchinson, 91, of Shrewsbury, formerly from Malden and North Myrtle Beach, passed away on July 13, 2024.
She was born May 16, 1933, in Salt Rock to the late Leslie L. and Cleo Jones Keyser. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Louie, brother Jack, son-in-law Bruce Blackhurst, granddaughter Sonya Blackhurst Simpson, brothers-in-law Lucian Stiltner and Wandell White, and sister-in-law Billie Keyser.
She is survived by her children, daughter Leslie Blackhurst, sons Richard, Randall (Kim), and Michael (Kelly), nine grandchildren Jason (Elicia) Blackhurst, James (Kitty) Blackhurst, Jeremy (Wendy) Hutchinson, Amanda Weese, Ricky Hutchinson, Mikaela (Josh) Kiser, Maggie Jo Hutchinson, Timi (Mike Pate) Fike, Kaleb (Allie) Lovejoy, and, great-grandchildren, Brodie and Garrett Simpson, Elaina and Finn Blackhurst, Shaylea, Jack and Brynlee Blackhurst, Dean and Laila Kelly, Emma Grace, and Easton Hutchinson, and Xander and Zoey Weese, Callie Kiser, Liam, and Auria Fike and Oliver Pate, sisters Deloris White and Shirley Stiltner, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Betty graduated from Barboursville High School, Class of 1950, and enjoyed helping plan reunions for over 60 years. She attended Huntington School of Business before her marriage to Louie in 1953. Moving to Malden in 1959, they raised their family there. They loved to travel, saw most of the US as well as three trips overseas, and spent many wonderful days in their home in North Myrtle Beach. She loved lighthouses, flowers, sewing for her family, parties, and Christmas.
A member of Kanawha Salines Presbyterian Church since 1961, she served most of the offices in WIC (Women in the Church) as well as Treasurer in New River Presbyterian.
As you plan visitation, make it a party of memories and laughter. The next party will be in Heaven. Jesus Christ issues an invitation every day, and I expect all of you to be there.

Betty’s life will be celebrated Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden.
Her funeral will be Thursday, July 18th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home in Malden, with entombment following in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior at 12:00 p.m.
