Born in Lynchburg, Bill was the son of the late William E. Saunders, Sr. and Gladys Pugh Saunders. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy, exemplifying dedication and honor throughout his life. Bill enjoyed a successful career as a welder, retiring from DACAM in Madison Heights.
Bill was an avid bowler, participating in several leagues in Lynchburg and relishing the camaraderie of his fellow bowlers. He had a deep love for the outdoors, frequently indulging in hunting and fishing adventures. An enthusiastic motorcycle rider, he spent countless hours exploring the open road.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Tamara Casey (Michael) of Madison Heights and Susan Saunders of Amherst; three grandchildren, Erica Casey (Todd Nuckols), Timothy Casey, and Shannon Casey; and six great-grandchildren, Noah Nuckols, Adysen Nuckols, James Mullen, Jr., Ashlyn Mullen, Timothy Casey, Jr., and Brandon Casey. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Saunders (Paige) of Tucson, AZ.
In honor of Bill’s wishes, no services are scheduled at this time. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit.
