Born in Amherst County, January 28, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Carrington Wills Burks and Sweetie Golden Christian Burks. She retired from G.E. after 27 years of service and later retired from Amherst County Public Schools. She was a collector of all things, an avid animal lover and loved music and enjoyed playing her fiddle. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Herbert Lee Millner and nine siblings.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Page of Madison Heights and Pam Self of Amherst; one son, Melvin Millner and his wife Linda of Amherst; one sister, Janie Mays and husband Mack of Amherst; two brothers, Roger Burks and wife Linda and Samuel Burks all of Amherst; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Carroll Martin, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
