Virginia Christine Harris

Born on March 18, 1930 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late James Branham and the late Effie Roberts Johns. Virginia was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Virginia loved her family and never knew a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Anderson; a grandson, Michael Johns; and three brothers, Raymond Johns, Roy Johns, and Andrew Johns.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Cecil; her children, Margaret Pentecost and husband Robert, Peter Johns and wife Linda, and Linda Abbott; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Matthews and husband Patrick, Effie Hall, and Wilma Hensley; brothers, Wayne Johns, Jesse Roger Johns and wife Lisa, and Clarence Hicks and wife Bonnie; a numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of her sister, Evelyn Matthews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery.
