Theodore "Ted" Rodney Bernard

Theodore R. “Ted” Bernard, 69, of Madison Heights, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his residence.

Born March 11, 1942 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Louise Henson Bernard. He was retired from the Greyhound Bus Company, was a U.S. Airforce veteran, and was of Baptist faith.

Ted is survived by two daughters, Tracey Watts and husband, Wayne of Amherst and Kathy Mays and husband, John of Madison Heights; one sister, Patricia Smith and husband, Dave of Amherst and three granddaughters, Ariel and Haley Watts and Madison Mays.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Ron Moore officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Amherst Rescue Squad or to a charity of choice.
