

Born November 14, 1942, in Amherst, he was the son of the late Cleveland and Effie Hicks Johns. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Andrew Johns.
Mr. Johns was the former Assistant Chief of the Monacan Indian Nation. He was the retired owner-operator, of R.C. Johns Construction Co., and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Mission, in Amherst. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, and a world champion coon hunter.
Survivors also include three children, Pam Talbott and husband Terry, of Monroe, Cindy Wilson, of Monroe and Roy Edward Branham and wife Dale, of Madison Heights; sisters, Virginia Harris and husband Cecil, of Amherst, Effie Hall, of Madison Heights, Evelyn Freeman and husband Phillip, of Monroe, Wilma Hensley and husband Bill, of Lynchburg; brothers, Clarence Hicks and wife Bonnie, of Madison Heights, Wayne Johns, of Monroe, Roger Johns and wife Lisa, of Madison Heights; 8 grandchildren, Andy, Quinton, and Tabitha Talbott, Fancy White, Bridgette Radwan, Roy and Jessica Jackson, and Dakota Goin; 8 great-grandchildren, Austin, Blake, and Landon Talbott, Amirah, Ashgan, and Aleaha Radwan, McKinley, and Carson Jackson; lifetime friend, R.G. Bryant, of Madison Heights, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, and at other times at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Whitten Monelison Chapel, by Pastor Sam Jones and Sharon Bryant. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.
