Born on July 4, 1936 in Point Pleasant, NJ, he was the son of the late Francis R. Bennett and Dorothy M. Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mary E. Gunter and a daughter, Judy Staples Tucker.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1958 at the University of Delaware. He was a Chemical Engineer for over 37 years at Babcock & Wilcox prior to his retirement. He was an avid reader and stamp collector and was exceedingly fond of long and complicated jokes. He was a lover of old school country music and almost always was the tallest person in any room he entered. Prior to moving to Richmond, he was a long-time member of Amelon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber B. Hill and her husband Paul of Richmond, grandsons, Jackson Bennett Hill and L. Scott Tucker and his wife Jennifer; great-grandsons Colton and Cody and son-in-law, Barry Tucker. He will be remembered for his curiosity, his patience, and his quiet love of his family.
