

Peyton Thornton Singleton, 87, of Forest and formerly of Madison Heights passed away Friday, February 2, 2018, at his residence. He was the husband of almost 53 years to Frances Paris Singleton. Born October 7, 1930, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Edgar Thornton Singleton and the late Elizabeth Johnson Singleton.
Peyton was a retired shipping foreman for Griffin Pipe where he served for 36 years and was a member of Union Christian Church in Madison Heights.
In addition to his parents, Peyton was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Frances Brandt and Ida Austin; and one brother, Charlie Singleton.
In addition to his wife, Peyton is survived by his children, Barry T. Singleton of Lynchburg, Carolyn Shaner (Johnny) of Forest, Lisa Hayes (Steve) of Madison Heights and Tommy Singleton (Karen) of Madison Heights; six grandchildren, Leslie Barbour (Kendal), Brittney Shaner, Megan Shaner, Mark Clinton “Clint” Tomlin (Gaby), Jeremy Tomlin and Robin Tomlin; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and other loving family members and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Jim Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
