Marie Ewers Torrence

She was the loving wife of the late James Joseph Torrence. Born on August 16, 1922 in Madison Heights, she was the daughter of the late John Bibb Ewers and Edna Smith Ewers.

She was a member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Cynthia Torrence Pillai Myerberg and her husband David of Morgantown, WV and Emily Torrence Cohen and her husband Jeffrey of Madison Heights; grandchildren, Dr. Nalini Pillai Robinson Casey of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Sivan Ramani Pillai and his wife Kimberly of Frostburg, MD, Ashley Cohen Beeghly and her husband Rob of Raleigh, NC, Adam Daniel Cohen of Raleigh, NC, Zachary Myerberg of Morgantown, WV, and Jonah Myerberg and his wife Audra of Boston, MA. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Chloe Marie Robinson, Eliza Eva Robinson, Ruby Quinn Casey and Darby Jane Casey all of New Smyrna Beach, FL as well as Nolan James Pillai and Catherine Rose Torrence Pillai both of Frostburg, MD, Sam and Abigail Myerberg of Boston, MA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by a son in law, Dr. A. Sivan Pillai as well as three brothers and five sisters.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Fairmont Crossing Rehabilitation Health, Heritage Green Assisted Living and her special caregiver, Angela Jackson.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Sandy Bottom Christian Church, 259 Old Wright Shop Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572 or a charity of your choice.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Meade Cemetery with Reverend Jim Freeman officiating. Friends are invited to Emily’s house following the service.
