Born on August 21, 1942 in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late John Parker and Junia “June” Overstreet Kean. She was also preceded in death by her loving stepfather who raised her as his own, Rev. William “Bill” Kean; her son-in-law, Albert “Buddy” Buchanan and a sister, Baby Barbara.
Joan loved helping raise the many children she babysat for over the years and was a proud homemaker. She also loved her caring neighbors and friends, especially her close friends Ann Pendleton and Marty Lipscomb. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe where she loved attending church and spending time with her church family. Above all, she was a loving Wife, Mother, and Nanny.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 58 years, Maynard Wilson; her son Troy Wilson, her daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Buchanan; two granddaughters, Candace and Courtney Wilson; three grandsons, Justin Dudley, Carl Bane and Joshua Bennett; and two great-grandsons, Kristopher Kirby and Jackson Dudley.
A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Briarwood Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor Mickey Ryan.
