Born in Lynchburg, July 15, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm T. Childress and Lois Wood Childress. Linda was an avid sports fan and followed the Boston Red Sox. She was quick witted and kind hearted and kept her family on top of their game. Linda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and devoted friend to many. She was passionate about her community and was a member of the Lynchburg Seventh Day Adventist Church and she loved her church family. Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior.
Her daughter, Brandi Lynn Nichols and her brother, M.T. Childress preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Ronnie Brooks, Jr. and his wife Robin of Lynchburg; Karen Brooks and her husband John Wegener of Goode; Kim Fields and her husband Gary of Forest and Jason Nichols of Madison Heights; one sister, Nancy Rhodes of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a number of extended family and friends.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Dale Long officiating. Interment will follow in Big Island Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
