Born in Hartford, CT, July 28, 1953, he was the son of Dorothy Maulucci McAllister of Vernon, CT and the late James C. McAllister, Sr. Prior to moving to Virginia, Mac owned and operated a successful auto mechanic shop in South Windsor, CT and later operated a bed and breakfast in Madisonville, VA. At the age of 55, Mac began a new career in Law Enforcement with the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office where he loved serving the citizens of Amherst County.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Erin McAllister of Madison Heights and Sarah McAllister and her Fiancé Donald Blankenship of Lynchburg; three step-sons, Mark Black and wife Vicki of Salem, William Black and wife Nicole of Madison Heights and David Black and wife Kristen of Gates North Carolina; one sister, Linda Harlow of East Hampton, CT; one brother, Michael McAllister and wife Christine of Foster, RI and a host of other extended family all loved and too numerous to mention.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Amherst County Humane Society, P.O. Box 614, Amherst, VA 24521 or to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office DARE program, P.O. Box 410, Amherst, VA 24521.
