Rev. James Warren Mays
October 26, 1966 – May 5, 2021

Rev. James Warren Mays, age 54, went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in Fort Wayne, IN.
James was born in Lynchburg on October 26, 1966, son of the late Curtis D. Mays and the late Virginia B. Mays. In addition to his parents, his great niece, Brianna L. Tyree, preceded him in death.
James was an Assistant Manager for Movies 10 and was a youth pastor for various churches in Central Virginia and Ohio. He was a graduate of Lynchburg Christian Academy and attended Liberty University.
He was ordained in the Southern Baptist and Grace Brethren Churches, was a mentor and leader to Fellow Youth Pastors, and was an inspirational leader in various children’s and youth ministries and was a talented Gospel Singer. He lived by his moto “Every day you have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life; whose life will you make a difference in today”.
His loving wife, Kelly P. Mays and a son, Seth Warren Mays, survive him.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, 3966 S. Amherst Highway, Madison Heights, Virginia. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church, 4465 S. Amherst Highway, Madison Heights, Virginia with Pastor Rick Ouimet officiating. Burial will be private.
