Born in North Tazwell, Virginia, September 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Sam B. Bogle and Audrey Mae Collins Bogle. He was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry after 29 years of service. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Eternal Baptist Church. Papa Jim loved the outdoors, he especially loved planting and growing flowers around his home and he loved people always welcoming friends into his home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Paul Bogle and his fiancé Kathleen Evans of Madison Heights, James H. “Jimmy” Bogle, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Evington and Timothy John Bogle of Madison Heights; two sisters, Minnie Osborne of Bandy, VA and Kaye Carpenter of Lebanon, VA; a very special couple, Jessica and Tim Stickel of St. Augustine, FL; five grandchildren, Brooke Bogle, Lauren Bogle, Seth Bogle, Gabriel Stickel and Elliott Stickel. Papa Jim was also a very special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Sidney Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Briarwood Memorial Gardens with military honors by the American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
