Born on May 2, 1935 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Hunter G. Lindsey, Sr. and Martha W. Lindsey.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rachel G. Lindsey; step-daughter, April Bailey and her husband Bill; grandchildren, Josh Bailey and his wife Susan, Caleb Bailey and his wife Stephanie; daughter, Melinda Wright and her husband Morris; grandchildren, Lindsey Wright and Morris Wright III; great-grandchildren, Will Bailey and his wife Marilu, Paul Bailey, Cole Bailey and Cadence Bailey.
He worked for many years as a security guard and retired from B & W. He graduated in 1985 from Central Virginia Community College. He enjoyed camping, watching the Virginia Tech Hokies (and was usually always seen wearing a VT shirt or hat), watching western movies, spending time with his family (especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren) and attending church at Elon Baptist Church where he and his wife were longtime members. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Steve Tyree and Rev. Cody Bingham. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
