Henry Early Nicholas Jr., aged 82, of Bonita Spring, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024. He was born in Lynchburg, VA, to Henry Early Nicholas Sr. and Sally Gosney Nicholas. Henry is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Bowman Nicholas.
Henry dedicated a significant part of his life in service to the nation, serving in the US Coast Guard. His professional journey led him to the railroad industry, where he worked for NY Central and later Penn Central, holding various roles such as Photographer, Transportation Analyst, Terminal Manager, Freight Sales, Marketing, and Engineering. Henry earned a B.S. in Economics from Virginia Tech, showcasing his commitment to knowledge and expertise.
Outside of his professional life, Henry was a lover of the outdoors, cherishing moments with his family and wife. He had a passion for investing in the stock market, staying informed about politics, and immersing himself in history. His adventurous spirit led him to travel the world on trains, exploring different countries, customs, and railroad systems. Henry was also a Master Mason, contributing to the community through his involvement.
Funeral services to honor and remember Henry will be held at Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights, VA, on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 1 PM, with a one-hour prior viewing starting at 12 PM. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg Va. with military honors rendered by American Legion Post 104. He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Sherry Bowman Nicholas, and is survived by two special cousins, G. Howard Gregory and David Pugh Jr.
