She was born in Amherst County on December 4, 1924 to the late Arthur H. Roberts and Bessie R. Roberts.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Bill she was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Peggy Reichard; brothers, Joseph Roberts, William Roberts, Arthur Roberts, Melvin Roberts; and sisters, Myrtle Burch and Alma Steuart.
Hazel was a lifelong member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church where she sang in the church choir. She also performed with the Ageless Wonders. She loved bowling, water activities with her family, and cooking for them.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas Reichard, Glenn Reichard and wife Linda, and David Reichard and wife Deborah; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Reichard and wife Caroline, Mark Reichard and wife Molly, Melanie Bennett and husband Roger, Michele Riddle and husband Keith, Melissa Shaffer and husband Christopher, Stephanie Deering and husband Daniel, and Chris Reichard and wife Allicia; a sister, Janice Viar and husband Robert; as well as twelve great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Reverend Jim Freeman presiding. Burial will follow at Meade Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the funeral home.
