Gloria Branham Ragland

Gloria Branham Ragland, 54 of Rustburg passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was a devoted loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and follower in Christ.

The late wife of W.K. Ragland, she was born on October 24, 1962 in Amherst County. She is the daughter of Mamie Joyce Branham and the late Jesse Williard Adcock. Gloria was a retired RN from Central Virginia Training Center after 33 years of service. Upon retiring from CVTC, she went to work with Centra for a year. Gloria had a passion for helping and caring for others, whether that was as a nurse or taking care of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, tending to her flowers, participating in her church events, and learning new things. Gloria is a member of the Monacan Indian Nation and Lighthouse Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, William Russell Weaver and companion, Jennifer Wilson and Carl Michael Weaver and companion Ashley Rock; four grandchildren, Micah Marie Weaver, Winston Robert “Two Trees” Weaver, Mamie Tristana “Black Feather” Weaver, and Lila Grace “Little Dove” Weaver; three step children, Dawn Marie Roberts and husband Mike, Christy Gilliam and husband Gary and Derek Ragland and companion Tabitha Eagle; ten step grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Branham, Wanda Branham, and Cynthia Rose and husband Emmett; brother, David Adcock and wife Joanie; four half-sisters; two half-brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center and to Dr. Oldham and the staff at Lynchburg General Hospital Oncology Department for their wonderful care and compassion during Gloria’s illness.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and at other times at WK’s residence.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Carey Forbus officiating.
