Frank Elwood Smoot, 89, of Madison Heights, passed away, Monday, June 14, 2010 at Guggenheimer Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Anna Laura Harvey Smoot.
Born August 2, 1920 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Daniel Greene Smoot and Ruth Mayo Smoot and was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Clarence, and John Smoot and two sisters, Florence Londeree and Ruth Bane. Mr. Smoot was a retired electrician with Singleton Electric Company, Gaithersburg, MD and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of V.F.W. Post # 16 and the Henry Knox Field Lodge #349 AF & AM.
Mr. Smoot is survived by two daughters, Janet Eagle and Judy McLaren and husband, Kevin; one sister, Myrtle Burchette, all of Lynchburg and four grandchildren, Stephanie Ragland and husband, Luke, Laura Eagle, Colin McLaren, and Meghan McLaren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery in Coleen with the Rev. Millard Stimpson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Today, June 15, 2010 at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
