

Ernest Woodson Viar, Sr., 85, of Lynchburg, went home to be with the Lord with his precious family by his side, on Sunday, September 11, 2011. He was the devoted husband of Virginia “Pat” Patrick Viar for fifty-six years.
Ernest was born August 17, 1926 in Campbell County to the late Alfred Woodson Viar and Virgie Lipscomb Viar Woodall and was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Judy Viar Ford and three brothers, Charlie, Junior, and Sam. Ernest was the operator of Holiday Texaco for twenty-eight years. He loved his family, but most of all, he loved the Lord. He was a member of New Beginning Tabernacle in Madison Heights, VA and Woodmen of the World.
In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by his four children, who were the apple of his eye, E.W Viar, Jr. and his fiancée’, Shannon Brooks; his precious daughter, Deborah Jean Guill and husband, Lewis A. Guill, Jr., Joseph A. Viar, and Harold Lee Viar and wife, Debbie, all of Madison Heights.
He was the proud Papa of five grandchildren, Jefferey A Guill, Lindy G. Cash, Melissa L. Viar, Meghan B. Viar, and Michael A. Viar; three step-grandchildren, Jason Freeman, Brandon Freeman, and Angel Goodman; one great-grandson, Benjamin J. Cash; three step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Virginia Jones of Lynchburg and Geraldine Moore of Madison Heights.
Ernest had two dear cousins, Dorothy Altice and husband, Donnie and Reverend Lawrence Viar and a dear sister-in-law, Jean Thacker and husband, Cecil and his beloved, Sassy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Ernest will be laid to rest at Tyreeanna Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at Lewis & Deborah Guill’s home in Madison Heights. Please contact the family at 434-384-2611, if needed.
