Dorothy Helen Thorpe

Dorothy Helen Thorpe, 92 of Gladstone, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Fairmont Crossing. She was born in Fairfax County on April 15, 1930, daughter of the late William T. Fletcher and the late Mintie C. Fletcher. Dorothy was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed gardening and was a great cook. Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Wade T. Thorpe, Sr. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Linda M. Bell and husband Jonathan, Jeannette T. Watts and husband Frank, Wade T. Thorpe, Jr. and wife Janice and Loretta T. Johns and husband David; a sister, Flossie May F. Wilson and husband James as well as seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 401 N Main Street, Amherst, Virginia with The Rev. Nancy C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Amherst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
