Born in Nelson County, October 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Richard Shelton Mays and Florine Lawhorne Mays. She was retired from Morton Manufacturing Co. and was a long time member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Thurman Mays, Robert Mays, Wade Mays and John Roy Mays and two sisters, Lillian Beale and Arlene Hodges.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret E. Mays of Amherst and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Private interment will follow in Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery.
