A proud alumnus of the University of Virginia, he was an avid fan of UVA sports and cherished playing golf and participating in poker nights with friends. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active, dedicated member of Madison Heights Baptist Church.
Family meant everything to Clayton; he was a loving and supportive husband, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janette Moss Thomas; his brother, H. Leon Thomas (Tricia); his sister, Mary T. Wilson; his mother-in-law, Patricia L. Moss; and three sisters-in-law, Jody M. Thomas (John), Jackie M. Fitzgerald, and Jennifer M. Fielder (Emmett). He also leaves behind his cherished kitty, Toby and a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by his, father-in-law James E. “Joe” Moss, and brother-in-law Edwin C. Fitzgerald.
A memorial service celebrating his life and faith will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Madison Heights Baptist Church, with Pastor Josh Beeler officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors (www.nhnamherst.org) or Madison Heights Baptist Church.
