Charles Edward Campbell

Born in Amherst Co., he is the son of Hazel Saunders Campbell of Amherst and the late Cortez Miles Campbell. In addition to his wife and his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Campbell.

Charles was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from both General Electric Corp. and Ericsson after 37 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Paula C. Ballas and her husband, Mike, of Forest; one brother, Duvall Campbell and his wife, Shirley, of Newport News and two grandchildren, Travis Edward Campbell and his wife, Courtney and Heather Lynn Ballas, all of Forest.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., today, December 20, 2012, at Whiten Monelison Chapel and at other times at the residence of his daughter, Paula Ballas, 1115 Forest Edge Dr., Forest, VA.
