Carolyn was born in Rushville, Indiana May 26, 1940. After graduating from High School she began her nurses training in Kentucky where she met her husband. They moved to Lynchburg in 1967 and she began her 35 year career as an O.R. nurse at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Elon Baptist Church where she was active for many years. However, her most cherished role was that of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always making them her number one priority.
She is survived by her three children, Matthew William Horsley of Raleigh, NC, Mark Abbitt Horsley and his wife Dana of Lynchburg and Jennifer Horsley Filkoski and her husband Paul of Montross; four grandchildren, Megan Taylor Moats (Dakota), Thomas Paul Filkoski, Stephen Matthew Filkoski and Sonny Lawrence Filkoski; and one great grandson, James Johann Moats.
