Born September 19, 1943 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Ernest and Erna Fielder Smoot. He was also preceded in death by his siblings. Darrell was a retired veteran of the United States Navy and also retired from Lowes.
Darrell was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. When we think of Darrell, we are reminded of a man who loved his family; going above and beyond to ensure his family was taken care of.
In addition to his wife, Darrell is survived by his son, Carlton D. Smoot, II; his daughter, Melonie Parker, both of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Brittany Wright, Joshua Wright, and Kandace Fordham and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Darrell’s life will be conducted at 2 PM, Friday, February 17, 2023 at American Legion Post 274, with military honors by American Legion Post 16. The address is: 248 Lakeview Drive, Madison Heights, VA 24572.
