Betty had a smile that brightened the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She adored her grandchildren and treasured her time spent with them. Betty had a passion for country music, NASCAR, and sports. Above all, her devotion and love for her sons was unwavering. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fairmont Crossing for their love and support during her time there. The nurses expressed how much they will miss her contagious smile and warm presence.
Betty is survived by her son Jerry Cunningham (Susan); and her son Rick Cunningham (Peggy); her brother Charles Johnson (Vicki) and her sister Linda Hicks (Jeff); her granddaughter Mackenzie Sligh (Zach), her grandson Blaine Cunningham (Ashtyn), her granddaughter Bayley Cunningham, her grandson Connor Cunningham, her great-granddaughter Charleigh Jo Sligh, her great-granddaughter Evie Blake Cunningham and her great-granddaughter Georgia James Sligh.
Betty was preceded in death by her brother Leonard Johnson and her brother J.C. Johnson.
A visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Whitten Monelison Chapel, 3966 S Amherst Hwy, Madison Heights, Virginia 24572, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Betty will be laid to rest in Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.
Serving as pallbearers are Blaine Cunningham, Zach Sligh, Jeff Hicks, Robbie Johnson, Daryl Johnson and David Johnson.
