Andrew Robert Murray, 35, of Amherst was surrounded by family when he was called home to God after a brave battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at his residence. Born January 21, 1980, in Ogdensburg, NY, he was the son of James and Jean Chandler of Amherst and Lynn Everett Murray of Madrid, NY.
Dru resided in Amherst but always considered Vinton his home, where he spent many years working in landscaping and enjoying his love for “horticulture” as well as tinkering with his Mustang. Dru was taken from this life too soon and will be dearly missed and fondly thought of by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Andrew is survived by his son, Cameron Michael Murray of Roanoke; his siblings, Patrick LaFave of Salem, Nickia Murray of Roanoke, Kelynn Murray of Lynchburg and Danielle Chandler of Batavia, NY; nieces, Autumn Murry-Burns, Kylie Persons and Lindsey LaFave; nephews, Aueyun Creasy and Deaglan Hewitt; and grandparents, Larry and Susan Lyons of Florida, Ellen Chandler of New York and Barry Fetterly of New York.
A memorial service will be conducted 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Orchard Hills Church in Roanoke with the Rev. Scott McLucas officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-4 p.m., at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice.
