William proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1961, where he honed his skills as a bulldozer operator, setting the stage for a successful lifelong career as a heavy equipment operator. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as he dedicated countless hours volunteering for causes close to his heart, including the Shrine Circus, Kiwanis, the Masons, and the Shriner Children's Hospital. He found great joy in helping others, often driving children to medical appointments at the hospital.
William was a man who truly loved life. He enjoyed vacationing at his home in Florida and also in Ortonville, relishing the outdoors and the peacefulness of nature. Hunting was a really big part of his life, and he also enjoyed trips to the casino, always with a calm and laid-back demeanor. A skilled card player, William especially liked Euchre and treasured the social connection they brought.
He was not only a devoted family man but also a father figure and grandfather figure to many over the years, touching the lives of those around him with his gentle, caring nature. One of Williams's favorite pastimes was going to Ipperwash Beach in Canada, where he loved spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially for his kindness, calm presence, and generosity to others.
