Thomas James Cooper passed away on Friday, Jan 31, 2025, in an accident in Troy, MI. He was born to parents James and Annie Cooper on September 24th, 2019. He was known to all his friends, family, and teachers as a curious, energetic, smart, outgoing, and thoughtful little boy. His favorite activities were running, jumping, rolling, and stomping. He was just starting music and dance classes. He was also attending preschool.
His favorite thing to do was play Minecraft on his Nintendo Switch, as he loved to show his Mommy and Daddy the things he could create. He was a constant protector of his best friend and little brother Jack, whom he loved very much. Thomas was always on the move and had to be running, jumping, and what he called “Super Sonic Mode” at all times. He was constantly curious about the world around him and liked to know how things worked. Often, he would ask his Daddy to show him pictures of things he was curious about, such as germs, animals swimming, or volcanoes erupting.
Thomas loved to do art and filled notebook after notebook with his drawings. At school, he once saw a classmate being bullied and immediately decided to make him a picture to cheer him up. However, he became kind of grumpy when his classmates didn’t appreciate his art.
At night, he liked to listen to audiobooks as he tried to go to sleep, with some of his favorites being Yoto Daily, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach. He was looking forward to trying BMX racing and Karate this summer. He often said he wanted to grow up to be a chef because that meant he could “cook with Mommy and Daddy and stay with them forever.”
Thomas is survived by his parents, James and Annie, and brother Jack. His Uncle Beau, and Grandparents James and Sharon Cooper. His Aunt Wendy and Uncle Frank, as well as maternal grandparents Li and Yang.
A memorial visitation will be held for the family on February 13th, Family Hour from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM and friends from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd., Madison Heights, MI 48071.
The family has asked that everyone attending the gathering on Thursday to please dress casual.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local library as he had a great passion for books.
