Sharon M. Murawski, age 78, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Sharon is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Murawski, her daughters Wendi (Michael) Lillie & Melanie Hume and her cherished granddaughters, Alexandra and Ava Rose. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Virginia Ignash and her brothers, John and Fred Ignash.
Sharon was born in Kinde, Michigan in 1945 and graduated from North Huron High School in 1963. She promptly moved down to Detroit with friends and began a job at Sears. While in Detroit, Sharon fell in love with one of her best friend’s brothers. Edward and Sharon were married in Kinde on October 1, 1966. It was a grand, three day affair that saw Sharon’s Father construct an outdoor bar at the reception hall in order to make sure no one ever had to wait for a drink!
Sharon and Edward eventually moved to a house in Troy, Michigan where they have lived for 55 years. Many of their original neighbors still reside there, and they have become as close as family. Sharon had a knack for interior decorating and her house was always stylishly immaculate. She adored flowers, and her yard during the summer months was always surrounded by beautiful, colorful blooms.
Sharon continued working at Sears before leaving for a position with the United States Postal Service at their Troy location. Sharon worked there for over twenty years, and over the course of that time made so many special and enduring friendships. She enjoyed hosting parties for her postal friends and a great time was always had by all!
Sharon was a fun loving person who always lived life to the fullest. She would always be the first one on the dance floor and the last to leave it. She adored shopping for new clothes and would never leave the house without being dressed to the nines or without makeup, her trademark gold hoop earrings and red eyeglasses. She was a fantastic cook, and there was always enough food to feed an army. In the summertime, you could spot her at the local Polish festivals and bars. She loved nothing more than to enjoy a cold Bud Light and some toe tapping polka music! Winter time would find her at the Ormond Holiday Club in Florida, enjoying the sunshine with another set of amazing friends and family. Sharon loved many things, but nothing quite had her heart more than her two granddaughters, Alexandra and Ava Rose. They were the light of her life. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Sharon’s Hospice Caregivers for their kind, dedicated and compassionate care for the last eight months.
A visitation for Sharon will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd, Madison Heights, Michigan 48071.
