Your in my thoughts and forever in my heart Tito Perry.   Thank you for the great memories and I hope you and Dad are celebrating in heaven.

Tio Perry, my memory of you is quite vivid. You were always joyful and communcative. I remember very well how we played chess and you allowed me to win— how you were so encouraging and so unselfish to make me feel a confident young girl! This and many more. I will surely miss you Tio Perry. Your shine in our lives, my family’s We will forever treasure your memory. Rest with the fulness of joy in heaven with our loving God. 

Tio Perry has always bèen close to us the Ygnacios, during his visits, he has alwaya been so sweet. When i lived in Ohio, we come and visit in Michigan often and we had a great time with his stories and jokes and i appreciated him accepting Jon into the family.  He wiĺl tease him  a lot. We enjoy karaoke, him singing. Those w
Were amazing moments we will always cherish. Everytime we come to the Philippines, we leave our car in their home and come see them first everytime we come back. Every person i know had great things to say about him. You will be missed! Go in peace and pray for us too.

Papa Perry, 

I’ve always been told that I am an eloquent writer, but I’m still struggling to find the exact words to express this lingering pain in my heart ever since you took your last breath. For days I’ve tried to write my innermost feelings, but everytime I do, I would only end up crying. It’s difficult for me, maybe because I know that after I put down in words what I’m really feeling, it will be like saying my last goodbye, everything will be final, and I will be forced to accept that you are really gone. Even though I’m certain that you are in a better place now, it’s still painful to realize that I could no longer see you, talk to you, hug and kiss you, hear your jokes and listen to your wise words.

Looking back and growing up in the Philippines, I never felt real love and concern from a grandparent, and this is why whenever you visit us from the States, I was so happy because I know you were genuinely interested in your grandchildren’s lives. You always asked how I was doing in school, were always attentive in my silly stories, cheered me on in my academic accomplishments, comforted me whenever I felt down and encouraged me to pick myself up, whenever I got hurt. I will always remember what you said to me—that when people hurt us, their actions are more often a reflection of who they are and not so much about who we are— You also said that when in doubt, to follow my heart, and to stop questioning my worth. You always said I was beautiful, smart, and how proud you were of me. It was your great love and total confidence in me that made me believe in myself. And it was your faith that tomorrow is another chance to become better versions of ourselves, that kept me going. You were my rock and one of my greatest loves. I will forever cherish our memories—of which I’ve been so lucky enough to have made with you— I miss and love you, always and forever grandpa ♥️

My fond memories of Tio Perry…

My wife, Cora, descended from the same Restituto bloodline as Tio Perry. That makes me a relative by affinity only. But Tio Perry treated me as a real and true blood relative. The Ygnacio clan even jokingly commented “Boy, mora’g ikaw man ang tinuod nga pag-umangkon ni Tio Perry”. 

At the celebration of my passing the bar in Ormoc in 1987, Tio Perry was one of those who congratulated me profusely. 

In July of 1992, after I attended the Tax Manager’s School of Arthur Andersen in St. Charles, Illinois, I took off the Chicago Bus Terminal on a Greyhound Bus for Detroit, Michigan. I don’t have blood relatives in that  part of the US. But when I arrived in Warren a few hours later, Tio Perry was there to welcome me with his signature smile, warm embrace and firm handshake. I felt I was just in Ormoc. Everybody in the family warmly welcomed me too. Knowing that it was my first trip to the USA, Tio Perry volunteered to tour me around the sights of Detroit. I believed he sacrificed a few days work off for that and I am eternally grateful to Tio Perry for that gesture.

In our talks, he shared me his life’s stories as a boxer, lawyer, family man and his struggles  as an immigrant in the US. He once told me that if given the chance he’ll go back to his roots in Ormoc and engage in the practice of law. I encouraged him to do that and even volunteered to work-out the reactivation of his membership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.  He was so excited about it especially when I told him that as per official Supreme Court Roll of Attorneys records you are listed as  “RODRIGUEZ, PROSPERO R.; Ormoc City; January 25, 1961; Roll No. 15091.”

Tio Perry you may have not realized your dream going back to Ormoc physically. Today, I know that you have fulfilled your dream. May you have eternal rest in the bosom of God the Father, the Supreme Law Giver, the Alpha and the Omega.


Tio Perry will always be remembered as a sweet and loving uncle.  He and Tia Edith never forget to send us Christmas cards every year.  Everytime Tio Perry visits Cebu (whether alone or with Tia Edith), he never fails to come and see us at home.  He has always been fond of my husband Nestor too.  All those memories we will always cherish deep in our hearts.  Thank you Tio Perry for sharing those moments with us.  Rest in peace now, in God's loving arms.  We will miss you dearly.❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

Farewell, dad; until I see you again in eternity.  I am at peace now that I know that you are whole again - no additional prayers needed because Jesus already welcomed you with His arms wide open and a smile on His face telling you that you belong in Heaven. Dad, I know that when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that you will spend the rest of eternity with Him in His Heavenly Kingdom. I can picture your wide smile when you finally reunited with Lola Meter - you’ve longed for that moment for so long. Rest, dad. I know that I will join you in Jesus’ time. I love you so much, dad. Thank you! Jesus, thank You for your kindness and Your mercy. 

Uncle Perry was always eager to engage me in a friendly and cheerful manner. I will always remember his smile and enthusiasm for life. He would ask me how I was doing and then offer an insight. I was able to offer him insight--his last question for me was about the soul and what happens upon death. I said: "when someone dies who is in Christ and depends on Him for salvation and eternal life, the deceased would immediately go to heaven and be with the Lord Jesus Christ," who said “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live" (John 11;25).  May my Uncle Perry's soul rest in peace. 


I'll always remember that you were one of my favorite "Uncle" growing up.  You will be missed Tito Perry.
