Mary Russo passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Salvatore “Sam” Russo. Dearest mother of Anne Marie (Brian) Smith and John Russo. Loving grandmother of Christopher (Jaclyn) Smith and Sarah (Adam) Lietz. Loving great grandmother of Brooklyn Smith and Emilia Lietz and dearest sister of Andrew (Mary Ann) Candela.
Mary was born December 12, 1930 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was preceeded in death by her beloved parents the late Andrew and Antonina Candela.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed participating in all the activities of her children and grandchildren. As an excellent cook and baker she carried on the traditions of her mother making every holiday and family birthday a special memory that we will cherish forever.
She was a member of St Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church where she had many dear friends, taught Catechism for 25 years and is fondly remembered by many of her former catechism students.
Mary made friends easily and had many dear friends who will remember her as a sincere person that was fun to be around and wonderful to talk with.
She enjoyed her Italian heritage, music and dancing with her husband Sam. All who met Mary were greeted with her beautiful smile. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11th, 2020 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home 30351 Dequindre Road Madison Heights, Michigan 48071. Instate Saturday, December 12th, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 10:00 a.m. the National Shrine Of The Little Flower Basilica on Twelve Mile and Woodward Ave. Royal Oak, Michigan.
